This is the contents page of a hip hop magazine, the colours used are red and orange. The main image takes up almost all of the page with only a little writing.

The focus of the contents page is on the main image, it is a mid range shot of a artist. it is a artist that i dont know so maybe he is not that known which suggests the magazine may not be a well known magazine, or his a new artist in the industry. Te artists face is serious, going back to that he might be a new artists he could be showing that he means business and aint here to joke around hence why is not smiling in the picture. The colour of the artsist jacket goes with the background, the orange jacket and red background look good.

The text on the contents page is small and does not take up hardly any space on the space on the page.

The typefont of the contents page is small. the heading and the subheadings have been put into bold.

This is a double spread page of a hip hop magazine, the heading of this page is 'ones & twos'. The two words in the heading are in different styles, the ones is in bold white while 'twos' has just a white outline. This show maybe a differnce of two differenet people's personality one being bold and one being shallow. 

The main image on both pages are placed at the bottom of the pages, so the layout of the two pages are generally the same, the pages are mainly taken up y text there is a lot writing on both sides. The page to the left, the text is formed around the image, where as on the other other page the all the text is located on top of the main images. The main image on the left page is in colour and the main image on the right is black and white, having one image colour will make that image stand out more, so maybe that artists is a more popular artist why they put him in colour. 

The headings are in the same place, in the same typefont and same style, this is probably an on going thing though ouut the magazine, maybe the theme of this issue.  

Some of the text is red while the rest is black, the text in red will be more important information or text the magazine want to to ecnourage readers to listen to.

There is some extra text in a black box to right of the second page, this text would be things seprate to the text in the middle, be about different stories.

The main image on the left side is wearing flashy glasses and has a gold chain on, this suggests that he is maybe wealthy, so is probably an artist that is quite successful. whereas on the right page they have there hoods up with normal stage mics, this suggests that maybe they are underground artists and not mainstream.

This music magazine is called ‘hip hop’ the mast head gives away the genre of the magazine, and also having eminem on the front cover people will know this is a hip hop magazine as he is a hip hop artist. This will not be targeted at a specific age but at fans of hip hop. Even though hip hop has male and female fans this magazine is mainly targeted at males, you can tell this by the colors of the magazine, and also there is no females on the front cover.

The main image of this front cover is a close up shot of eminem. Eminem is a big artist in the industry, which suggests that this magazine is well known and is a big company to have a artist like eminem as the main image. Eminem (main image) is over the mast head you can only read 4 words, this is also evidence that this magazine company is well known as people must already know what it is called for them to cover the mast head with the main image. The image is in the centre of the page, covering the majority. It is a close up shot, you can see the seriousness in the artists face which shows his dedication and to hip hop.

Eminem is wearing a black wooly hat and a black jacket, although he is a big artist he is casually dressed, the way he is dressed relates to hip hop, hip hop is not very commercial and is quite underground so artists are not very fussed about things like make up and clothes, hence why eminem is just wearing a black hat and jacket. Hip Hop is a underground music and started in the streets, where people wear wooly hats, black jeans, black jackets am so on, so by eminem wearing what he is, he is following the ways of hip hop.

he main colours used on the front cover are red yellow and white. The plain white background contributes to the mood of the main image because eminem is showing no emotion in his picture, and the colour white is said to be a colour with no emotion. The colour red is quite raw and stands out a lot this matches the personality of hip-hop artists.

The language used on the front cover is very basic; there is not a lot of writing. On the strap lines all there is, is names of other artists that are in the magazines there are no images, this maybe suggests that these artists are also well known.

The typfont used is big and bold which also matches the personality of hip hop artists

This music magazine is called vibe, the genre of the music is r&b i can tell this because of the artist on the front as the main image. He is a r&b singer, known as chris brown. He is known globally which suggests that this magazine must also be well known for them to have chris brown on the front cover. This magazine is targeted at teenager's and young adults as that s the age range chris brown makes music for. 

The main image is over the mast head which shows that the magazine has to be well known for them to cover the name of the magazine. Th main image is the size of the page it is the main attraction of the front cover, the image is placed right in the center. Chris brown is a wearing a red top, there is not much red on the cover so it makes him stand out as red is a colour that will attract people. there is no props in the background as the magazine wants viewers to focus on chris brown. red green an white are the main colours that have been used, these colours will

All the straplines are music related, either of other artists or new song release of near enough the same genre. the strapline that says chris brown in a bigger size font, will attract fans of chris brown to look further into the magazine, also by adding the bit of gossip "im still a VIRGIN" also will make people want to read on as they will want to know about chris brown's life.

For my preliminary task i done a magazine cover for lordswood girls sixth form.

my cover includes images of the basketball academy, and images of of a microphone o represent the music course with in media. The reason why i chose the colour blue was because it matches the uniform of the girls school.

The mast head is big and will attract because of the bright blue, it is short and people can read it easily. 'lgs' stands for lordswood girls school, i put that underneath the mast head incase people did not know that.

'Basketball academy' is my kicker, the basketball attracts a few people thats why i have made it a kicker, also the font and the colour will make people look at it as its different from the rest of the cover. The background colour blue was chosen because it matches the colour kit of the basketball team. the only thing i think that the cover is a bit dark and will not attract many people to read, so if i mix the blue with a brighter colour instead of black it will look better.

Also the images look out of place, this makes the cover look unprofessional, the images need to be placed in good places.
